Last year Sasha Baron Cohen was told to be Freddie Mercury in his biopic, focusing on the classic rock band’s golden years of glory and fame.
Now Mr Brian May has already spoken about the movie, ready to start in production next autumn, concerning the first draft of the script, by Peter Morgan (“The Last King Of Scotland”), and the starting work by Cohen in order to prepare himself to be the Queen’s hero.
The film is partnering with Robert De Niro and Jane Rosenthal’s Tribeca Productions, and Queen manager Jim Beach.
A spokesman for GK Films said, “Queen is one of the greatest rock bands of all time…Freddie Mercury was an awe-inspiring performer so with Sacha in the starring role coupled with Peter’s screenplay and the support of Queen, we have the perfect combination to tell the real story behind their success.”
Concerning the band, the musical “We Will Rock You” is ready to become a movie too, with a script by Ben Elton.
Pieces of music history, on cinemas.
Because, you know, the show must go on.
