Roman actress Nicoletta Romanoff to host the opening and closing nights, and all the award ceremonies at the 9th Rome Film Festival

The Roman actress Nicoletta Romanoff will host the opening and closing events, as well as the award ceremony of the 9th Rome Film Festival. Nicoletta Romanoff will also host the ceremonies of the collateral prizes and all the other prestigious acknowledgments awarded by the Festival this year: the Marc’Aurelio Acting Award to Tomas Milian (October 17th), the Maverick Director Award to Takashi Miike (October 18th), the Marc’Aurelio Lifetime Achievement Award to Walter Salles (October 20th), the Marc’Aurelio of the Future Award to Aleksei Fedorchenko (October 22th).

“It is an honour for me to take part in an event as prestigious as the Rome Film Festival. The director’s invitation both flattered and thrilled me, I knew instantly that this was a unique event, a rich and engaging programme – said Nicoletta Romanoff. This is a special edition that calls upon the public to participate at a time in which cinema really needs audiences to be involved. The people’s choice vote reveals the essence of the event, and furthermore demonstrates the essential role of the movie-goer as an active player in this magical world which I love so deeply”.

She achieved fame in 2003 in the film Remember Me, My Love (Ricordati di me) by Gabriele Muccino, in which she played the role of Valentina, a girl who wants to “make it big” as a show girl. The film won her the Guglielmo Biraghi award at the Taormina Film Fest, a prize awarded by the Italian National Syndicate of Film Journalists to young talents in Italian cinema, and was nominated for a David di Donatello as Best Supporting Actress. The same year she was one of the stars of the short film Affinità Elettive, also directed by Gabriele Muccino. In 2005, she played a leading role in the TV miniseries Un Anno a Primavera, broadcast by Rai 2. In 2006, she featured in Cardiofitness, by Fabio Tagliavia, inspired by the eponymous novel by Alessandra Montrucchio. She then starred in the TV movie on the life of Italian road racing cyclist Marco Pantani, Il Pirata – Marco Pantani, broadcast on Rai 1 in 2007. In 2010 stars in Petty Letters And Love Crimes (Dalla vita in poi) by Gianfrancesco Lazzotti. In 2011 she was an Advocate for Unicef. In 2012 she starred with Carlo Verdone in Posti in piedi in Paradiso. The following year she competed as a guest star in “Altrimenti ci arrabbiamo”, the new television talent show on Rai1 hosted by Milly Carlucci.
