TUTANKHAMON CARAVAGGIO VAN GOGH: THE NIGH IN THE CENTURIES IN THE PALLADIAN BASILICA

Last Christmas night the third major exhibition located in the Palladian Basilica opened, which came out of the solid cooperation between Linea d’Ombra and the City of Vicenza. The exhibition, entitled “Tutankhamun Caravaggio Van Gogh. La sera e notturni dagli Egizi al Novecento “, has been divided into six well defined thematic sections: the Egyptians and the recovery of the cultural shift in their portraits picturing important and also ordinary people ; the night as a container of stories mainly related to the Christian world; the etching ; the 19th century landscape with famous sunsets and starry skies; the vision of the night according to the masters of the twentieth century, and finally the last section, a complete summary with unforgettable and emblema tic works of the issue addressed previously. 113 paintings, coming from different backgrounds, by excellent authors: not only Caravaggio and Van Gogh but also Tiziano, El Greco, Tintoretto, Piranesi, Rembrandt, Turner, Kiefer, Giorgione, Wyeth, Monet, Corot, Cezanne , Gaughin, Mondrian, Rothko, Bacon, Music, Zurbaran and many other stars from the art of all ages which were surveyed to investigate the night, not only in a physical and visual sense, but also as an expression of the memory and hope of the human soul . Therefore, such a bold exhibition in the artistic choices, but willing to express through the pure art the secular path of the night , in close and distant worlds.
